History & Culture

Logansport takes its name from James Renick-Logan, more commonly known as Captain Logan. A scout for the United States forces during the War of 1812, Logan served his country proudly, and his legacy lives on through Logansport.

The city of Logansport was once home to the Dentzel Carousel Company. Today, it's home to one of the three earliest Dentzel carousels. The city's economic-development slogan stems from the carousel. Riders can attempt to grab a brass ring while riding the carousel, thus inspiring the slogan, "Grab the brass ring."
